Her motto: "I’ll try anything at least once if I can have a glass of wine afterwards."

Her favorite food & wine pairing: Salted egg yolk potato chips, caviar and sour cream with Chablis or Kistler chardonnay.

Gemma is a copywriter, journalist and PR consultant who left her native England in 2005 to live in Japan, Australia and Vietnam before settling in San Francisco, in large part due to the Bay Area’s vibrant culinary scene.

Gemma discovered her passion for wine while traveling Europe in her twenties, when she landed a harvest job as a grape picker at a little château in Vensac in the Bordeaux region. Since then, she had traveled France with Chef David Kinch and the staff of Manresa as they undertook several “multi-hands” dinners in some of France’s most lauded kitchens, reporting for GQ, and covered the launch of Masseto’s subterranean winery in Tuscany for Departures.

As a writer, she continues to contribute to WSJ, NYT, Condé Nast Traveller, VOGUE, Robb Report and Food & Wine. Gemma also uses her love of storytelling to create content for brands, and to collaborate with media outlets on sharing uniquely compelling stories around wineries, restaurants and other hospitality and lifestyle brands which engage millions around the world.
