My name is Gary Sullivan.I have a lifelong curiosity for wine and spirits and enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion. Presently, I now have twenty-eight years of experience working in 4-star and 5-star restaurants located within world class destination resorts. Most recently, I worked at Studio Restaurant at Montage Resort and Spa in Laguna Beach, California. Studio isa Forbes Five Star restaurant with a Wine Spectator’s Grand Award wine list. Studio provides an incredible ocean environment that naturally attracts sophisticated and wine curious clientele. This environment has enabled me to hone my skills speaking about and selling wines from around the globe, with a focus on pairing wine with food.
For the past six years at Montage, I have also helped lead Introduction to Sommelier program and mentored many students to encourage their career pursuit in wine studies.I currently hold Advanced Sommelier Certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers And Am working toward theMaster Sommelier Diploma. Most recently, I passed the Spanish Wine Scholar Examination with Honors,and am currently preparing for the Italian Wine Scholar Program. My wife and I started a business in July 2020 called Sullivan Somm. We focus on themed wine and spirits presentations for small groups as well as personal shopping services for everyday drinking, special occasions, small parties,and cellar collections. When I am not working, you can find me exploring craft cocktails, enjoying them during around of golf, fishing off the coast of Southern California, or spending time with friends. I am happiest, though, your new home with my wife enjoying a glass of wine and watching great shows on Netflix.
