CMS Advanced Sommelier

Enthusiastic about delivering and inspiring genuine hospitality and warmth, Advanced Sommelier Beki Miller has been working in restaurants and wine for nearly twenty years. Her career clumsily began at Caesars Tahoe at age 15 when she knocked over a bottle of 1982 Château Mouton Rothschild. Curiously researching information about that particular bottle initiated her love of wine. She worked at Outback Steakhouse in Reno, NV, when she decided she wanted to go to culinary school and study wine.

In 2011 Beki moved to the Bay Area and enrolled in the French Culinary Institute Sommelier program. She graduated at the top of her class and became a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers. Her first job out of school was in retail at Beltramo's Wine and Spirits in Menlo Park, CA.    She traveled throughout Italy in 2012 on a trip sponsored by the Guild of Sommeliers and Banfi. In 2013 Beki began working at The Sea by Alexander's Steakhouse as a sommelier, eventually joining Alexander's Steakhouse San Francisco team. In 2014 She won the Wines Cup sponsored by Wines of Brazil and traveled throughout the Serra Gaúcha. She attended classes at San Francisco Wine School and passed both the Certified Specialist of Wine exam and the French Wine Scholar exam passing with highest honors.

Beki has had experience opening multiple restaurants. She was selected by Master Sommelier Eric Entrikin to be on the opening staff of LB Steak. More restaurant experience opened Verbena, named by SFWeekly, as Best New Restaurant in San Francisco in 2014. She was on the opening team of In Situ at the SFMoMA, which was heralded by the NY Times as America's most original new restaurant. Her love of Italian wines grew even more profound, working at Prima, where the mostly Italian list features over 1500 selections. She has also been honored to be knighted by the Ordine dei Cavalieri del Tartufo e dei Vini d'Alba. Living in Napa, Beki considers herself lucky to work in Napa at Ken Frank's Michelin awarded La Toque with a Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning wine list. Beki's incredible depth of knowledge and experience is utilized as an education specialist for the OMvino team's restaurant and hospitality clients.
